Crazy Talk

I try not to speak
to myself in public.
It’s a dead giveaway
for the insane.
Until I began keeping
a Bluetooth earpiece
attached to my ear,
despite not having
a Bluetooth enabled phone.
Now I can talk to myself
in public all I want.
If anyone looks at me sideways,
I tilt my head so the apparatus
is visible to them, flash my teeth
and continue strutting
down the street, as if I have
somewhere important to go.
