Underneath shadows,
Our soulless bodies illuminate.
A centuries-old curse
Makes us attracted to the iron
Flowing within human veins;
The heartless desire to devour
The labor of another’s heart.
Being nocturnal, we leave,
Before dawn’s lovebirds begin
Their song, to return to our
Coffins—which are still warm,
As if we never left them.
